"In the dusty highlands of northern Ethiopia, in the Tigray Region, there is the oldest Christian church built in Africa, in the archaeological site of Yeha. The structure of the building dates back to the 4th century AD, around the same time that the Roman Emperor Constantine legalized Christianity (313 AD) and then converted to Christianity on his deathbed in 337 AD. The Ethiopians in Africa were freely Christian before Rome and Constantinople officially became so. The surprising and early conversion to Christianity of the kingdom of Axum is little known, but it should reflect those who are convinced that all African Christians are pagans converted to the Faith by the superior white race."(continue...)
