2006 Pazi mine Sarajevo
Elena Givone
"This project stemmed from the need to publicise a topical story of overwhelming and global importance: land mines and the ongoing suffering following war. I have explored what it means to grow up in a society, which has been devastated, amid chaos but also reconstruction. To be born as children after the end of a war that none of their parents can justify today, to be at daily risk of becoming the victim of an insidious danger: land mines. Enchanted glades, green forests, flower strewn meadows, even the beautiful can be dangerous.
